Ian Baker, Consultant
Ian Baker qualified as a solicitor in 1997 after several years of working in management for the public sector. Ian established Bakers Solicitors in 2002. Ian has experience of general litigation but his reputation is as a first class criminal defence lawyer.
In 2012 Ian was joined by David Parkes and Kirsten Collings and has since retired as a Partner. Ian now undertakes a consultancy role.
Ian’s reputation is such that he is instructed by clients throughout the country and is a member of the High Peak Duty Solicitor Scheme. Ian provides assistance at the Police station 24 hours a day and has experience representing those being investigated for the most serious offences including murder. Ian is also experienced in road traffic offences and can represent clients up to and including trial.
Ian is also highly experienced in licensing matters and has a reputation for representing clients at licensing hearings before magistrates courts. Ian’s expertise includes representing those being prosecuted for breaching licensing conditions and also appeal applications. Ian is able to offer advice and representation on a range of licensing matters including premises licenses, personal licenses and taxi licenses.
Ian also holds the Higher Courts Criminal Advocacy Qualification and is entitled to exercise rights of audience in all criminal proceedings in the higher courts and judicial review proceedings in any court arising from any criminal case.
